Our Day Trip

Last weekend we decided to take a "Day Trip"! We love our day trips around here. That could mean many things. A trip to the zoo, a day at the park or fishing. Really we never know what daddy has up his sleeve.

This is our first day trip this year and we decided to go fishing! We had a blast! We left right after church. OK I shouldn't say right after church because a lot has to go into these day trips. =) They usually are not planned so that means mommy isn't exactly ready to go all day away from home with four kids. I am getting better at the spur of the moment times though and it is definitely worth it. So we got home and we packed our van.

~ cooler, full of food and drinks
~ fishing gear, 6 poles and 3 tackle boxes
~ sun block
~ insect repellent
~ 3 bikes
~ extra clothes
~ sweat shirts
~ 3 bags full of who knows what!
~ books to read on the way
~ Cd's to listen to on the way
ARE YOU TIRED YET =)
~ charcoal, lighter fluid and lighter
~ tube and syringes for Taylors feeding tube
~ first aid kit ( I am actually not this handy. However my children are always ready for an emergency! They have everything you would need if we caught on fire while we are gone or just a minor boo boo. Their first aid kits are filled with things they learned from a boy scout book that has to always go on our day trips..which reminds me....
~ Bird identifying book
~ Tree identifying book
~ Insect identifying book
and last but not least Poisonous Animals book! =)

I think people know we home school from a mile away. Its quite funny to see the looks we get and the comments. For some reason people think that we either don't know what caused our "many children" or we are "crazy". =)

Anyway then we are off. But first there is the stop at the gas station and the store to get more food and a football! =)

Even though it takes a lot to get us there I wouldn't change it for the world!

Here are some pictures of our fun day. Enjoy! =)

This place is beautiful!

Aww aren't we a cute couple!

They had a blast on the swings.

Taylor was teaching me sign language! This is eat. (I think)

They are just so cute!

Morgan and her worms!

Alyssa is not real fond of worms!

Eating dinner! YUM!

We had such a good time! I have more pictures of us fishing. I will try to get those up tomorrow.

Hes BACK!

Yesterday we were all outside doing some yard work. The kids and I were tilling the garden and Brian was mowing. Guess what he found? A toad...that was a funny shade of green!

Our first nature walk!

Last week I bought us notebooks to start a nature journal or field journal as Alyssa calls it. We have been having so much fun with them. Last week we went to Dover Park and they recorded all the neat things they saw. Some of the things they wrote down were 2 mallard ducks, bass fish, pond, white pine trees and bud were starting to grow on the trees.

Friday was our first spring nature walk! Its so neat to me that this is school time. I love it! We walked around our yard looking for signs of spring.

Its funny to me the different things they noticed. Brian said he always knows its spring because the kids have on flip flops and mommy is barefoot! Taylor wasnt really in the mood today to notice much because the sun was bothering her. I think she just wanted to play on the computer! :P Alyssa noticed the dandelions. Carter heard the birds chirping and Morgan found alittle purple flower.

Alittle about ME!

Well lets see just about everyone I know has a blog. Soooooo I figured it was my turn to take a stab at it! My name is Miranda. My hubby and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary in November. We are blessed with 4 little ones. Taylor is 10. She was born with cerebral palsy. Although physically she is limited a day never goes by that she does not make you smile! Alyssa is 8. She is my helper. She will do just about anything to help me or her daddy. Morgan is 5 and she is in a class all her own! She is my princess. Last but not least is our little man, Carter. He is also 5! He makes my head spin somedays. (In a good way!) He is definately all boy.

I love the Lord with all my heart. I am a work in progress and can not wait until the day that progress is complete! :) I named my blog Abundant Treasures because I am going through a difficult season in my life. The Lord reminds me everyday of the "abundant treasures" that he has blessed me with here on this earth.

I really enjoy cooking, photography, hiking (anything outside really) and reading. Time usually is not on my side but thats ok right now! ;) Someday I will have lots of time for that. Right now my time is spent homeschooling and creating memories with my little ones. Time just seems to fly by these days!

Well that is alittle about me. I am hoping to start capturing more of my family life in pictures and am 'hoping' to post them. We'll see how that goes!
